Welcome to Butterfly Music

It's a real pleasure to have the chance to share my music with you in this way.

It's now been fourteen years since Butterfly Music began with the launch of the CD "These Hands" back on December 6th, 2000. During that year I worked with the students at St Joseph's Primary School, Moorebank, on recording a CD of new religious songs for children.

I remember saying to the children of the "These Hands" choir one day, in about June of that year, that I hoped that one day children in Catholic Schools all around Australia would be singing "These Hands". Well now many of them do, as well as lots of children in New Zealand, the United States and Canada too, and to think about that makes me feel very thankful for the opportunities given to me by God.

Since that time I've had the opportunity to visit nearly 1000 Catholic Schools around Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the Cook Islands. I look forward to visiting many more in years to come, sharing my music in concerts and workshops with children, teachers and parents.

What is "Butterfly Music"? Well simply Butterfly Music is music of faith and fun for children. As Christians, the butterfly offers that powerful image of new life. As teachers we often use the caterpillar's transformation into a butterfly to teach that concept. Jesus was placed in a tomb that could not hold him and he emerged to the brightest of new lives, just as the butterfly emerges from the chrysalis.

The butterfly also became an important symbol to us as a family when our daughter Belinda was ill with cancer and in the months and years after her death. So when it came time to choose a name for our business, my wife, Bernadette suggested "Butterfly Music". So there's the story behind Butterfly Music!

I hope you enjoy our website and thank you for visiting.
